Halong Bay Caves

Thien Cung Cave

Thien Cung cave is situated on the south-west side the bay, 4 km from the wharf outside of Halong City. The way to Thien Cung is a perilous one, covered on both sides by thick forest.

Dau Go Cave

The grotto is on Driftwood Island. Seen from afar, the entrance to the grotto appears to be blue, and has a shape similarrr to that of a jellyfish. After 90 steps up the island, the entrance is reached.

Sung Sot Cave

Situated in the centre of the UNESCO-declared World Heritage area, the Sung Sot or Surprise Grotto is on Bo Hon Island, and is one of the finest and widest grottoes of Ha Long Bay.

Tam Cung Cave

Located in the center of Halong Bay, 5 kilometers from the Sung Sot Cave to the northeast, Tam Cung Cave (Three Palaces Cave) is one of the most wonderful caves in Halong.

Trinh Nu Cave

The Trinh Nu Grotto or Virgin Grotto is situated on the island range of Bô Hon in the system comprising the Sung Sot Grotto, Dong Tien Lake and Luon Grotto.

Luon Cave

Situated on Bo Hon Island, 14 km south of Bai Chay Beach is the Luon Grotto. In front of the grotto is Con Rua Islet, and the Sky Gate is on the right. Here the cliffs stretch vertically out of the pure blue and smooth water.

Me Cung Cave

Two kilometers south-west of Ti Top Beach is the Me Cung Grotto or Bewitching Grotto. It formed on Lom Bo Island, and seen from afar, the entrance is like the roof of a house denting the island’s side.

Bo Nau Cave

Some 2-3 km southeast of Trong Mai Islet lies Bo Nau Cave or Pelican Cave. This vaulted grotto covers 200 m2. The floor of the grotto is wide and flat, but not deep, and its wall features lots of stalactites and stalagmites.

Kim Quy Cave

Kim Quy Grotto or Golden Tortoise Grotto is situated on Dâm Nam Islet, with a peak 187 m above sea level. Dâm Bac Islet is in the front of the grotto and Soi Sim Islet in the back.

Thien Canh Son Cave

The pathway to Thien Canh Son Cave is set below the forest canopy and a stone cliff, so you have the feeling they are climbing towards heaven.

Hanh Cave

When visiting Halong bay, visitors can not miss Hanh cave. This cave is 9 km from Cam Pha province and is 20 km from Baichay Tourist Wharf. Hanh cave is the longest and the most beautiful cave compared to other caves in Halong bay.
